Our Mission

Annam Brahma's mission is to eradicate hunger and malnutrition through mindful habits

We aim to provide 30,000 meals in and around BMC hospitals Municipal hospitals and slum areas. Our key target areas are slums, municipal hospitals and specific areas of the city.

Mumbai is the financial capital of India, which makes it a very lucrative place to live in. Slums are increasing day by day, due to such rural to urban migrations, globalization and many more factors, people have to live in dilapidated conditions. In such scenarios, the state feels to provide them with basic living needs, especially when they do not have a job. Annam Brahma hopes to also reach out to such needy people from the slums and other living areas, spread awareness on Satvik food and ensure the benefits of Satvik food helps them.

Underprivileged people and those falling in the low-income category, take medical assistance from the local municipal hospitals. These hospitals function by heavily relying on state or local government funding. Though private hospitals cater to a few from these backgrounds, in their CSR activity, a majority have to depend on government aid for survival. Whilst the local hospitals attend to a huge number of patients per day, they are forced to care for the patient with an increasingly compromised option. Also, the hospital lacks enough resources to sustain the paying patients to offset the non-paying patients. In the bargain, poor people are dependent on the mercy of hospitals for food and shelter in case of hospitalization. In this case, the patient's relatives are forced to sleep hungry and suffer being on the street.

TYI refused to be a witness to their plight and decided to take the Annam Brahma initiative to make provisions for their sustenance. Since our primary commitment is to care for the less fortunate people, Annam Brahma focused on providing them daily meals twice a day. This was our way of providing comfort and care to society. However, we also realized through the initiative, that hospital staff and those helping around them, need daily food.

Annam Brahma team on the field serving and transporting the food to hospitals, often have leftover meals and instead of wasting it, reaches needy people like beggars, road labourers, children from slums and anyone irrespective of their status. They have spotted many lanes and areas where children, senior citizens and slum dwellers live and need nutritious food. It helps us in reaching more people and also helps in following the zero-waste policy.
